Rihanna: Multicolored Polka Dot Jumpsuit

Singer Rihanna attended an after party for her LA concert in a multicolored  polka dot jumpsuit and a pair of black Louboutin pumps. This one shoulder ruffled asymmetrical neckline jumpsuit is from the D&G (Dolce & Gabbana) Pre-Fall 2010 Collection.

Before attending the party she performed at the Staples Center as part of her "Last Girl on Earth" World tour.

Her fire red hair and nails are a perfect match. Love her makeup!

Sales, Sales, Sales

Went to one of my Walgreens in the area.  As I walked in went straight over to the Beauty Section in the store.  Lo and behold there were lots, and lots of yellow/orange stickers sales.  Hmm, I wonder..."Why so many sales"?

Lots of nail polish sales
Look, EEK! Nasty polish swatchers.

These two went home with me.  Yes, from $5.99 to $1.59 what a deal!

Do you think new items may be coming?

Finding the best long lasting pencil eyeliner

I have oily skin, finding an eyeliner pencil that stays put even on the waterline (inner rims) or tightlining (upper rims) of the eyes is something I'm still trying to find that stays put all day.  Tried Revlon Colorstay eyeliner they tug on the eye abit and by the end of the day it's practically gone.  Tried Urban decay 24/7 eyeliner pencils.  They are great and I do love the way they glide on the eye without any tugging.  By far they work the best for me, but still by the end of the day it's not as intensifying as when I first apply it.  My mission is to try Makeup forever aqua eyes.  Hopefully, I find my true love of an eyeliner that stays put all day.

What pencil eyeliner works best  for you?  Please share.

Mascara and Primer

In general, mascaras come in two formulas: lengthening and/or thickening. Any other formulas, in my opinion, are obsolete. The results of any mascara are a lot depended on the design of the wand. Mascara wands come in all shapes and sizes. It is up to us to scout for one(s) that suit us best.  When applying mascara, start at the base of the lashes and slightly wiggle your way up. Add as many coats as you like; I like to apply more coats to the outer lashes for an ultra feminine look. Be sure to wipe any excess product off the wand to avoid clumps.

Using an emollient base for your mascara to condition the lashes and deepen the effect of the formula. Lancome Cils Booster is a fabulous mascara base; it adds more of a lengthening/thickening effect to the lashes and moisturizes them as well. You could even use it on your lashes before bed to condition the lashes as you sleep. An alternative to this pricier option is SRS (Smith's Rosebud Salve) or even Vaseline.

I thought this was an interesting device to use.  Myrabelle Mascara Shield.  Do you have it?  Would you purchase it?  This little device can be purchased here

Makeup On A Budget

Not everyone can afford the prices of high-end cosmetic lines like Chanel, Dior, Estee Lauder, Lancome, MAC, etc. And there are many who do not want to spend a lot of money on cosmetics, either. This is a guide to help direct price-conscious consumers like yourself to cost effective products that actually work. Many more drugstore cosmetic lines are coming out with products that are made to mimic higher-end items.

There are several brands that offer great, more inexpensive alternatives for your cosmetic hauls. One of my favorites is called NYX, and I would consider it one of the best cosmetic lines I have tried and the price is right. Their eyeshadows are extremely pigmented, and several colors are perfect dupes compared to MAC’s! Shadow textures are lovely, and apply evenly and smoothly with little fuss. NYX offers single shadows as well as shadows in sets of three, blush, and various lipglosses and eye/lip liners. Prices generally range from $5-25 for most items they offer. I would say that the only drawback from buying NYX is that it is not often readily available at your nearest drugstore.  They offer online, so that is always a good option for those who cannot find it in their local store.

Most drugstores carry low-budget lines: NYC and Wet ‘n Wild.  Both offer full lines of cosmetics, including foundation, eyeshadows, bronzers, and travel-sized brushes. They also make fairly decent false eyelashes, which are perfect for anyone who wants a pair to try or those of us who often wear them once and throw them out. Far cheaper to buy these for one-time wear than MAC ones! While both of these lines are affordable,  the quality is not near high-end brands.
Many high-end users supplement their collection with finds from Loreal Hip, Milani, which offers several identical dupes to MAC existing shadows. Loreal Hip Product they do offer gorgeous color choices, and even have loose color like MAC’s pigments. Some shadow colors are harder to work with than others, but many can be used with great success. These shadows are well-pigmented and apply smoothly, and again, these are perfect for anyone with a small budget. Similarly, Rimmel offers some quality products as well.

Just because you cannot afford or do not want to spend a lot of money on your makeup does not mean you will not be able to find quality products that fit within your budget, whatever it may be.

LaToya Jackson’s Leopard-Print Train

Fashion Highlights

LaToya Jackson stopped by Lloyd Klein's L.A. studio for a fitting yesterday, and the singer was instantly smitten with this floor-sweeping leopard-print coat. Judging by the resulting photos, Jackson spent a good deal of time posing, twirling, and figuring out the most dramatic way to flash the topper’s purple lining.

Do you like the drama? Or are fanciful trains best saved for wedding dresses.

NO Eyebrows!!

    The barely there eyebrow trend
At Bottega Veneta, model Chanel Iman's brows are lifted beyond two levels, resulting in awkward orange. (Photo: Andreea Angelescu)

"The face will lose some expression and definition without the eyebrows," notes eyebrow expert Landy Dean of Marie Robinson Salon in NYC.  Dean explains, "Lightening the brows a shade or two can soften the expression and draw attention to the eyes if the natural brow is too prominent, the hair on the head is noticeably lighter, or you have gone from brunette to blonde." Once you lighten beyond two levels, you may find unnatural orange and brassy tones alight—the kiss of death for bleached brows.

I won't be following this trend...Will you? I rather have bushy eyebrows. LOL!

UDPP, New Package??

UDPP IS FINALLY GETTING NEW PACKAGING!!!

Just heard from Twitter Urban Decay will be putting the eye primers in a squeeze tube (just like the face primers) starting with the fall/winter collection. For those of you who don’t know, this is a huge deal because the current packaging is useless and requires people to slice it open to get half of the product.

Also the Book of Shadows III (coming this fall) will feature the same style of hand-drawn art as the Vegan Palette, and the mirror will feature lights to help you apply more easily. .
